Most competency training tells you what the markers say

You can read the ICF Core Competencies in an afternoon. Coaches who develop toward PCC rarely get stuck on what the competencies mean. They get stuck on what those competencies look like inside a live conversation, at the moment a client goes quiet or a session drifts.

This course is built around those moments. Each competency comes with three insight videos that work through how it shows up in real coaching, alongside reading material that gives you the language, and a self assessment that turns the lens onto your own practice.

Then you bring a session of your own and evidence what you did.

That is where competency becomes capability.

How each competency works

Three insight videos

Each competency opens with three short videos that take a different angle on the same skill, working through what it asks of you and where coaches commonly lose it.

Reading material and self assessment

Every video pairs with reading material and a self assessment, so you move from watching to examining your own practice while the material is fresh.

Capstone

Each competency closes with a capstone. A knowledge test confirms your grasp of the material, then you bring one of your own sessions and write about what you evidenced.

Competency is what you can describe. Capability is what your client experiences.

You practice for the session where it matters

Coaches build competence through repetition with feedback. Reading about presence gives you the concept, and staying with a client through a long silence gives you the capability. The gap between those two closes through reps..

This course puts your own coaching at the center. You watch, you read, you examine your practice, and then you evidence what you did with a real client. Eight times, once per competency.

What this opens up

Coaches who work through all eight competencies at this depth tend to report four changes.

You coach from your own ground

The competencies stop feeling like a checklist running in the background and start feeling like how you work.

You catch your patterns earlier

The capstones ask you to find the moment you would handle differently. After eight rounds, you catch those moments live rather than in review.

You have language for your practice

Mentor coaching, credential submissions, and supervision all get easier when you can name what you did and why.

Your CCE hours come from real development

Continuing education that builds capability rather than filling a requirement.
