MCS Pathway Walkthrough
📅 Session 1: May 19 | 9:30 AM PT / 12:30 PM ET
📅 Session 2: June 2 | 12:00 PM PT / 3:00 PM ET
By next January, only MCS holders may mentor any coach earning or renewing an ICF credential.
The New Standard
The Mentor Coach Specialization (MCS) replaces the Mentor Coach Qualification (MCQ) as ICF's recognized standard. It applies at three credential levels: ACC, PCC, and MCC.
Deadline: Jan 1, 2027
Every coach applying for an ICF credential must complete their 10 mentor coaching hours with someone holding the MCS at the matching level. By April 1, 2027, the Performance Evaluation retires entirely.
Why It Affects You
Mentor coaching becomes the primary evaluation mechanism in the credentialing process. For practicing mentor coaches this changes your business model. For aspiring mentor coaches, the entry path is now formalized.
What This Walkthrough Is?
This is a 60-minute live session with Janet M. Harvey, MCC. ICF documentation on the new MCS pathway is dense, scattered across multiple PDFs, and written for compliance.
We're translating it into practical terms. What applies to you, how it applies, when each piece kicks in, and where you act first.
Janet has spent thirty years inside this work as a Master Certified Coach, ICF Past Global President, and CEO of inviteCHANGE. You'll come away with a clear read on the new standard and a plan that fits your situation.
